Home Design Trends to Expect in 2020

Posted by: Baldwin REALTORS® on Tuesday, March 17, 2020

While 2020 has taken an unexpected turn, many are finding themselves with the time to finally catch up on those updates they've been wanting to make to their home. Baldwin County’s housing market was on the rise last month, and Baldwin REALTORS® expect things to pick right back up in the near future, thanks to the current interest rates. So make the most of this slower season by getting your home ready to sell with the current trends homebuyers prefer. While design trends come and go, we’ve rounded up a few predictions (based on this article from Houzz), of home design trends expected to gain attention this year, in hopes to inspire your renovating and/or home searching process. Let’s take a look.

1. Marble Slab Bathrooms

One of the most popular choices as of late to make bathrooms and kitchens look cleaner and sleeker, marble has been spreading from backsplashes and countertops to floors and walls in bathrooms.

2. Warmer Colors

While neutrals are still popular, throwing in a warmer color can complement your room and welcome guests into your home.

3. Bold Powder Rooms

A great way to make a big statement is with the design of your powder room. Adding fun wallpaper into the mix is an easy way to turn a drab powder room into something you’ll love.

4. Arched Doorways

To arch or not to arch? They’re making a comeback, folks! Archways throughout the house can add an architectural element your house may be missing. If you’re currently building or looking for your next home, keep this trend in mind!

5. Double Floating Vanities

Double floating vanities are on the rise in popularity as it offers a great way to free up floor space to give the appearance of a larger room. Also, unique mirrors add the perfect touch to class up any bathroom.

Can you get on board with any of this year’s trends?
